Re-Appointment as Postdoctoral Scholar

Postdoctoral Scholars (PDSs) are Divisional appointments with staff benefits intended for postdoctoral training and are generally supported by restricted funds. PDS appointments are generally for a 12-month term. Each PDS will have a primary faculty sponsor who will be responsible for developing a mentoring program for the trainee with clearly established expectations and goals.
Proposal--The department will prepare and submit a recommendation for the appointment that is reviewed by OAA for completeness and approved by the Dean. The original recommendation should be submitted to OAA. A complete recommendation will include:
Chairman’s letter to Dean which should include
- name of candidate
- proposed effective date and term
- proposed compensation
- Department endorsement of the appointment as a training experience
- Description of accomplishments for the current term, as well as training/mentoring commitment and terms for evaluation for the period of reappointment

Post-approval/Payroll—Upon approval, the department should update the individual's Personnel Action Form (PAF) with appropriate attachments for non-resident aliens. Forms must be received by the OAA payroll deadline to guarantee a paycheck at the end of the month. payrolldeadlines
